William Lamb, DVM
Dr. Lamb grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from Virgil I. Grissom High School in 1977. He attended the University of Montevallo for two years before transferring to Auburn University where he completed his undergraduate work. Dr. Lamb then entered the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1985.
Following graduation, Dr. Lamb accepted a position at Teton Veterinary Clinic in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He later moved to Craig, Colorado before returning to Birmingham in 1987. Dr. Lamb purchased Brookwood Animal Clinic in 1992 and subsequently expanded operations and built Vulcan Park Animal Care in 2007.
Although Dr. Lamb enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, the versatility in being able to engage in multiple sub specialties and personal interactions with clients is what attracted him to this profession.
Dr. Lamb has served on the board of the Birmingham Humane Society, the auxiliary board of the Humane Society, the board of the Emergency Animal Clinic, and served two terms as President of the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association. As a result of his work with Mason, the tornado dog, Dr. Lamb received the Olivia Beardon Award for Specific Services, and the Abe Krawcheck Award for Kindness to Animals.
Dr. Lamb married Ellen Nall in 1982, and they have two grown and married children, daughter, Justyn, and son, Owen. Dr. Lamb also has one grandson named George. Outside of veterinary medicine, his interests include watersports, snow skiing, boating, fishing, hunting, and most recently, rebuilding an old Miata to compete in sports car club events.
